This series of guides is designed to support agencies implementing participatory agroenterprise development programs operating within defined geographical areas. The following four are on-line:

Good Practice Guide 1
Strategy Paper: A Participatory and Area-based Approach to Rural Agroenterprise Development

This guide provides an overview of CIAT's approach to rural agroenterprise development. The participatory and area-based or "territorial" approach is derived from a number of methods and tools that have been developed by the Rural Agroenterprise Development project team and its partners through project work in Latin America, Africa and Asia over the past 10 years. The aim of this set of methods and tools is to meet the entrepreneurial development needs of service providers.

Good Practice Guide 4
Participatory Market Chain Analysis for Smallholder Producers

This guide was developed as a key step in the 'area-based approach to rural agroenterprise development'. The guide is based on the principles of developing market-led interventions that go beyond single intervention projects. The aim of this guide is to enable service providers to work with a range of actors in selected market chains and design interventions that initiate systemic changes in the marketplace.
