The Biochemistry Laboratory aims to carry out research on plant biochemistry and related disciplines such as chemistry, physiology, and molecular biology. Thesis students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels take advantage of the expertise available in this laboratory to carry out their research projects.

Our research focuses on plant metabolism, and molecular and cellular biology, and on integrating new discoveries of plant biochemistry to the unique constraints that shape plant growth, development, and breeding. Currently, we are performing research on carotenoid and secondary metabolites and mechanisms of tolerance of Brachiaria to acid soils.
