  2. Utility to recover the directory information on saved maps when they are moved.
  3. Correction of errors when saving a map display as bitmap
  4. New function to completely clear a map.
  5. Instructions for installing version 1.01

1. Creating a new subdirectory for each saved map.

When you save a map with the Save Map icon on the main map window toolbar each layer of the map is written to disk to allow you to reload the map at a later time. These files have now been grouped under a subdirectory of the Working Directory in order to keep them together and limit clutter. The directory is given the name you give to the saved map.

2. Utility to recover the directory information on saved maps when they are moved

A saved map has directory information stored in the table that keeps track of all the layers and files of the map. If you move a saved map directory, (you don’t have to keep it in the working directory, you can move it to another disk or a backup device), this information needs to be updated before you can reload the map. A new utility has been written to do this for you. You’ll find it under the new Tools pull down menu which replaces the one for Settings. Pull down the menu and select Relocate Map. Select Relocate and browse to the new path to the map file. Opening the file will update the directory information. You can then open the map with the Load Map icon from it’s new path address.

3. Correction of errors when saving a map display as bitmap

An error in the first release code resulted in the poor quality and parts of the image being cut off when a map was saved using the option Save Map and selecting the file type .bmp or bitmap. This has been corrected and the full bitmap is now produces. It gives good results in Microsoft Paint® and when inserted as a picture into Microsoft Word® , but the image still does not look good in Microsoft Photo Editor® . For a more general portability of the image we recommend the alternative of a good screen capture package.

4. New function to completely clear a map.

If you have a lot of layers displayed on a map it can be tedious to delete them one by one in order to start a fresh map. We have included a new icon in the Layers Control window which will completely clear a displayed map. You will find it as the anti-clockwise pointing arrow at the left of the icon toolbar.

5. Instructions for installing version 1.01

Download the file Setup.exe.

Execute it by either double clicking on the file, or go to the Start – Run prompt and type in the path for Setup.exe.

Once running the setup program will show you the default directories for FloraMap installation and allow you to enter an alternative path if you have FloraMap installed elsewhere. It will install two new files FloraMap.exe in the subdirectory \floramap\ and ch01.bmp in the subdirectory \floramap\bitmaps\. The existing files will remain but will be renames floramapBK.exe and ch01BK.bmp.
