Communications Internship
for Global Agricultural Research Center in Colombia
The Corporate Communications and Capacity Strengthening unit
of CIAT is looking for an intern to help with writing, editing,
and public relations. Located at the outskirts of Cali, Colombia,
CIAT is a non-profit organization that conducts socially and
environmentally progressive research aimed at reducing hunger
and poverty and preserving natural resources in developing
countries. The communications intern will work full-time assisting
communications staff in duties such as:
- Reporting, researching, and writing articles for CIAT's
quarterly e-newsletter.
- Writing content about projects, results, meetings, and
partnerships for CIAT's website and intranet.
- Actively participating in Web 2.0 applications relevant
for the Center (e.g., blogs, wikis, Facebook, YouTube).
- Creating audio/video material to promote CIAT research.
- Editing scientific articles and reports for internal publication.
- Drafting text for pamphlets, posters, and presentations.
- Monitoring the media for agricultural development-related
articles.
- Other information management and dissemination tasks,
as agreed.
The ideal candidate should be a native English speaker, and
have a background (undergraduate degree) in communications,
journalism, or international development and with proven writing
and editing experience. Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
S/he should be available as soon as possible for a period
no less than 6 months with an option for extension.
